A friend recommended Trevor at Downes Automotive. She said he was not only an excellent mechanic but also an honest mechanic and he could fix anything and if he couldn’t do it, he had guys that could. I had an issue with air suspension on an older luxury vehicle and I contacted 4 other mechanics in my area and they all said “sorry, we can’t help you, take it to the dealership.” Downes didn’t say that. I booked an appointment online. They had me back on the road that same day. I very highly recommend this company. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

We have taken many vehicles to Downes over the years. 2019 Chevy truck, 2008 Toyota Yaris, 1956 Belair, 2002 Honda, 2009 Pontiac G3 - all were repaired with great service and fair pricing. The staff are easy to talk to, friendly, and knowledgeable. We won't go anywhere else!

I brought my recently-purchased 13-year old Lexus car to Downes Automotive last week as it wouldn’t start. It turns out it just needed a new battery. Steve asked if I wanted them to do a 45d check-up on the car, and I thought it was a great idea as I didn’t get a pre-purchase car inspection before buying the car. I’m happy and thankful that I brought my car to Downes, if only for a battery change and overall inspection. Trevor was straightforward and communicated very well on what was done and what could wait, and told me the car is in good condition overall, which was very reassuring. Great people great experience. We had a drive shaft vibrating on our way from Powell River going to Mackenzie, called them ,they said they were busy but come over and we’ll look at it .One hour later, a bigger problem. I should have stopped earlier maybe to save damage, this was Wednesday afternoon. They managed to squeeze the truck in on Thursday morning knowing we were stuck in Maple Ridge and I got it back Friday afternoon.. big job done.. very happy .

Did a pre-purchase inspection here and Josh was the one who served me. Amazing service, thorough checks on the car and they gave me proper technical information regarding the state of the engine that helped me make my decision. The initial agreement was to leave my car for 1h but they ended up finishing up the work in 30 minutes and charged me only for that. Great transparency and honesty, and they are not there to rob you off of your money, unlike many other mechanic shops. Would highly recommend

Had intermittent check engine light, Downes was able to get me in quickly and found a P0171 code, and found the PVC valve assembly defective, replaced unit and car is running top notch. Service was friendly and above board, very satisfied, would go back for ANY repairs

I took my car into Downes Automotive and worked with Josh and James. They spent time trying to diagnose the issue but, unfortunately, it wasn’t something they could fix. What really impressed me was their honesty—they were upfront about it and didn’t charge me for the time they spent. That kind of integrity is rare in auto repair, and I really appreciated it. Even though the problem wasn’t resolved here, I’d recommend Downes Automotive for their professionalism and customer-first approach.
